Skinhead teen hairstyle high school ban

Should this 14 year old teenage boy have been banned from his high school because of his `Skinhead’ hairstyle?

The Principal of the school said that extremes of fashion including shaved, Mohican or brightly dyed (bright coloured) hairstyles were not acceptable.
His mother said “If he had been fighting or bullying, I would have understood, but to suspend him because of his hair has left me very angry.”

Legacy of the Skinhead era

Is the short Skinhead hairstyle really an extreme of fashion? Or is it pretty unfashionable?
It’s actually pretty unfashionable, very few British teenagers have really short hair.
Another sure sign that it’s unfashionable is, quite a few middle-aged men have short hair. When middle-aged men adopt something as a fashion, it’s a sure sign that it’s no longer fashionable.
Probably the real problem with very short hair is, it signifies violence. it signifies the Skinhead era, which was mostly about violence although it did produce some pretty interesting music too.
The school principal may have been consciously or subconsciously associating his short hair with violence and the Skinhead era when she banned him from school. If this was the case, she wasn’t alone, because a large percentage of the population of Britain thinks exactly the same way.
