Tony Blair ruled out of EU presidency race as Gordon Brown accepts his bid has failed

Tony Blair was ruled out as Europe’s new president tonight as Gordon Brown backed Britain’s EU Trade Commissioner Baroness Cathy Ashton for the role of EU ‘foreign minister’.
